When the so-called “offices of professional standards” and “professional standards offices” and “safeguarding offices” of Roman Catholic diocese and communities are fake, it hurts priests.
Innocent priests have no way to clear their names.
Lord have mercy.
Guilty priests have no way to ask for forgiveness. They aren’t allowed to apologize.
Christ have mercy.
They are forbidden by their superiors from doing what Christians should do-seek reconciliation.
When the head of the Dicastery for the Doctrine of the Faith (DDF), Víctor Manuel Fernández, is the author of a pornographic novel, it hurts priests.

The superiors hide behind low level priests. Priests, religious, and laity are pitted against each other by lawyers. It is an adversarial system by design.
Low level priests suffer the greatest harm from this system.
Lord, I belong to You. We belong to You. Our hope is in You! Your angels will guard us on the encampment.
Thoughts: So many good men joined the priesthood and moved far from home. Many seem to send money back to their families in their home countries. The lack of support they receive from their leaders breaks my heart.
When victims come forward they are told they are hurting priests. But we are on the same side as priests. This system hurts all people of good will. With a system like this, guilty and innocent priests alike are held as slaves for the rest of their lives.
