“I Would Like To Have A Conversation About The Consequences For You”: The Enforcement Of Omertà

2024-12-4

Peace be to all.

Do you renounce Satan, all his works, and all his angels and all his service, and all his pride?

I do renounce him.

Do you renounce Satan, all his works, and all his angels and all his service, and all his pride?

I do renounce him.

Do you renounce Satan, all his works, and all his angels and all his service, and all his pride?

I do renounce him.

Have you renounced Satan?

I have renounced him.

Do you unite yourself to Christ?

Yes, I unite myself to him.

Do you unite yourself to Christ?

Yes, I unite myself to him.

Do you unite yourself to Christ?

Yes, I unite myself to him.

Have you united yourself to Christ?

Yes, I have united myself to Christ.

Then worship him!

I was told by Dr. David Leary, OFM in the Professional Standards and Safeguarding Offices for the Franciscans of the Province of the Holy Spirit that there would be “consequences” should I continue to share my personal experiences. Specifically he was upset about personal emails I had written to a handful of individuals. At that time, this blog was miniscule. I had written posts like An Example of the Cognitive Dissonance Experienced by Victims of Roman Catholic Priests, Trusting Our Leaders: An Infinite Loop That Needs A Break Statement, and Mature Christian Leaders or Demigod Wannabes? At that point I hadn’t even “tagged” anyone specific. These posts were 100% generic. They were laments, an expression of sorrow. (Growing my blog was protection for me. A good victim is a silent victim.)

It is crazy to go into a situation trusting someone with your vulnerabilities, sharing your fears and trauma, to have this person essentially turn on you. David Leary was supposed to be providing me with pastoral help.

Every single time I would start to trust, have faith, assume the best, I was burned. And it makes it almost impossible to trust any office, authority, lay employee, or clergyman in the Roman Catholic Church. I don’t want to be the kind of person that assumes the worst. But there is reality to contend with.

They are ruthless. That is the reality. I can never again be vulnerable with Roman Catholic clergy or any offices they run.
